"The Great Mire - All is Vanity"
The First track "Vibration of a Rotating Structures" is just a way for them to explain what you're about to be exposed to. It stumbles in with perfect precision and halts to a stop like a mean traffic light at just under a minuet. "Sequence A082838" is a hard, fast and violent stomp of synths, electronic toms exploding in bullet fashion, and grunty vocals couple with claps, screams and waves of haunting keyboard. The third track is title track "All is vanity". This barrage of clunking snare, and lumbering beats get complex towards the end, driving along through its beginning and middle are a solid metal riffs accompanied by brutal snowy keys and thumping electronic lines. "Kretschmann Scalar" starts out with video game samples, but as soon as their dorky reference is made, it's straight back to thrash brutality ripping with gore and a small arpeggiator line for the icing on the cake. "Massacres and General Covariance" is short and very intense. It has a ringing synth line accompanied by the album's biggest and baddest scream, (even at only 44 sec long it does its job very well). Track six is the finale and feels like it. "ZulBhaSair (unreleased)" begins with a smal intro and then rockets into a shuddering boom of weird timing and huffy puffy "wolf eyes" vocals. It follows by snarling into nasty guitar and whiplash tightness. "The Great Mire" scores among the very best releases on TFR. If you like your grindcore with some splashy synths and amazing power in its quickness, "ALL IS VANITY" is a small bite of awesome darkness to consider. Listen to this release twice in a row to discover more than usual.
